Men's Campaign

About the Campaign

The Bay Area Women’s Center is committed to providing an opportunity for men to be involved in our mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault. There are many reasons why men are an important part of the solution: Men know survivors, men have a voice, and men are survivors too. Join us in the Bay Area Women’s Center Men’s Campaign.

Many of the norms and expectations that exist in our society perpetuate violence against intimate partners. Men are often raised and encouraged to be powerful, show aggression, control situations, and suppress emotions. These expectations are damaging and hinder our progress toward creating a world where domestic and sexual violence no longer exist.

Through the BAWC Men’s Campaign, you can lend your voice to be part of the solution. To join, download the flyer below or click the "Donate Now" button.

Documentaries

  • Roll Red Roll is a true-crime thriller and impact campaign that goes behind the headlines of the notorious Steubenville, Ohio rape case to uncover the deep-seated and social media-fueled "boys will be boys" culture at the root of high school sexual assault in America. The film unflinchingly asks, why didn't anyone stop it?

  • Audrie & Daisy in this wrenching documentary, two teens are sexually assaulted by boys they considered friends, humiliated online, and harassed by their community.

  • The Mask You Live In follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America's narrow definition of masculinity. The film ultimately illustrates how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men.

A huge thank you to the men who supported our campaign with a donation last year!
