Prevention Education

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence:

  • One in three high school students have been or will be involved in an abusive relationship.

  • Approximately 38% of date rape victims were young women from 14 to 17 years of age.

  • One in four girls and one in six boys will be the victim of sexual abuse or attempted sexual abuse by the time they are 18 years of age.



The Bay Area Women’s Center has an established, highly successful and well respected Prevention and Education Program which serves the community at large.  Prevention information and presentations are delivered to schools, organizations and businesses.

It is the goal of the Bay Area Women's Center's prevention education program to cultivate a culture of safety and respect within our community. Prevention education programs serve as a method of empowerment for individuals to make behavioral changes based on increased knowledge. When it comes to eliminating domestic and sexual violence, knowledge is power.

We would love the opportunity to engage with your classroom or group of students. Presentations can be customized to suit your needs. Typical topics for prevention education presentations include:

  • My Body is Mine (grades pre-K through 2nd)

  • Healthy Relationships

  • Domestic Violence

  • Sexual Assault
